‘questions on i n h e r i t a n c e’
Black Aesthetics at Judson Memorial Church
December 2024
I was fortunate to be curated by the wonderful Arien Wilkerson & Malcolm-x Betts to close out the the incredible 23/24 season of the Black Aesthetics series.
This was a ceremonial evening of shedding, questioning, holding, and letting go.
Joined by my best friend of 15 years Heaven Schydlowky, and close college friend actress & doula Ariel Blake, we considered the entanglement between birth & death.
We interrogated inheritance – what we received via childbirth that does not belong to us, and what we may pass to the coming generations.
To conclude, audience members were welcomed to respond to the prompt “what do you choose to let go of?” on a piece of paper and dispose of it into a bucket of water, choosing to end certain cycles in 2024.
This work-in-process sharing was just the beginning of my deep research into inheritance.
Head to this instagram post to read my full reflection of this offering! xx
‘questions on i n h e r i t a n c e’ was supported, in part, by a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant!

Umbria Factory Festival
Spoleto, Italy
September 2024
I had the absolute pleasure of traveling to Spoleto, Italy in September to perform in
‘afterimage’ by Evan Ray Suzuki.
This butoh-inspired duet explored the dissociative affect caused by information overload and the concrete effects that digital scrolling has on the body.
Participating in this festival was such a full and rich experience, from enjoying meals with the residents at LaMama Umbria to witnessing touching performances by other powerful artists.
Evan and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves & I certainly hope to return again!

‘SORE’ by Ashley Pierre-Louis at the Pocantico Center
presented by TRIBE Multidisciplinary Arts Collective
September 2024
I have had the privilege of working with my dear friend Ashley Pierre-Louis on a duet of her creation, ‘SORE’, for over a year now!
We showed a work-in-progress version of this duet in September at the Pocantico Center. This wonderful opportunity was facilitated by
TRIBE Multidiscipinary Arts Collective ♥
Keep an eye out for updates on the growth of this work!
I can’t wait to share it with more people…

‘ENUF’ (excerpt) at Carnegie Museum of Art
INSIDE/OUT series curated by MICHIYAYA Dance
August 2024
I was so fortunate to be curated by the incredible MICHIYAYA Dance to present an excerpt of my evening-length work ‘ENUF’ at the truly beautiful
Carnegie Museum of Art.
It is my dream for my work to exist in the museum and gallery spaces more, so this experience was literally a dream come true ♥
I had a blast dancing alongside some powerhouse performers that day, and I hope to make the trip to Pittsburgh/Carnegie Museum again soon!

‘Fabric Softener’ by Asia Stewart
The Shed
July 2024
I had the distinct privilege of getting to exist in the magical world of
’Fabric Softener’ conceived by the brilliant mind that is Asia Stewart. This incredible play brought together a colorful team of performers, including Asia, myself, the stupendous Candice Hoyes, and the mystical Yaz Lancaster.
Working on this piece was such an expansive opportunity for growth in my creative practice. I not only danced, but also spoke and sang a little bit too. It pushed me out of my comfort zone in the absolute best way and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to transcend time with these 4 powerful performers!
Check out Asia’s work ~ you’ll be inspired.

GALLIM Moving Artist Residency
New York Center for Creativity and Dance
June-July 2024
At the end of June I fulfilled my wonderful two-week
GALLIM Moving Artist Residency.
I researched many concepts with a couple close collaborators and was grateful for the time to just explore with no expected outcome! It was refreshing.
My gratitude to the GALLIM and Joyce Studios staff for all their support!

May 2024
In May, I shared a bit of new research on a topic I intend to be in process with for a long time: LOVE
In this lovely evening shared with 3 other amazing artists, I presented
‘lover’ – conceptualized by me and performed with tattoo artist souptatu!
While my own writings on love – as well as excerpts from “all about love” by bell hooks – were projected into the space, I was stream of consciousness speaking about my 5 great loves. Simultaneously, souptatu was tattooing a ♥ on my wrist for each one of them…
It served as a ceremony marking the end of my 20’s and the harmful patterns I engaged in “love.”
‘El Nino’ at the Metropolitan Opera
April-May 2024
In March of this year, I started rehearsing for ‘El Nino’ by John Adams, directed by the incredible Lileana Blain-Cruz and choreographed by the otherworldly Marjani Forte-Saunders!
While I was cast as a cover, it was such a privilege to get to work with this cast of phenomenal, INSPIRING artists every day. It was definitely a highlight of my career to begin working at the MET Opera!
Can’t wait to be back soon :)
‘Yves Klein and the Tangible World’ at Lévy Gorvy Dayan Gallery
April-May 2024
For many afternoons throughout April & May. I sat inside of this small suspended box within the Lévy Gorvy Dayan Gallery for 4hrs at a time.
Through that tiny armhole, gallery-goers could reach in and touch my naked body.
This piece, ‘Sculpture Tactile’, was the brainchild of the revolutionary –and controversial– French artist, Yves Klein.
As someone who is committed to demystifying the human body, performing this piece was a deeply moving and spiritual experience.
I feel so connected to the body-based work that Yves created, which glorified the human body without sexualizing it.
It was an honor to embody this work, and I hope to do it again one day!

Blind Date: “Tiny Conversation Hearts”
at ISSUE Project Room
February 2024
I was curated by Lina Azalea Dahbour to create a 15min piece for a wild experiment!
A work I’m calling ‘Round RAGE’ was born of it.
Four artists interpreted a score by Alexa West and were split into two pairs.
We performed our pieces together as a duet as we experienced the other’s work for the first time.
This was such a tricky yet fantastic experience! I feel so lucky to have been paired with the amazing nyhne, whose music aligned perfectly with the energy of my movement score. Blind dates for the win!
